Schools more lenient Lice Policies.  Schools are having to deal with more and more lice infestations.  Most school will send kids home at the first sign of an head lice infestation. The problem schools are having is for every child sent home it means less money for the school.  If a child misses any portion of the day the school does not get paid.  In this time of dwindling school resources schools are rethinking their lice policy.

If you look at lice with science based information head lice do not carry any kind of disease. Once lice is discovered the person has had it about a month. The damage has already been done as far as spreading it at school. Letting a kid finish out the day really does no harm.

I see schools more lenient lice policies as a good sign that lice hysteria can subside.  It is sensible to send a letter home at the end of the day and let the child finish the school day.  I know a lot of people will have very strong feeling about this but that comes from fear not correct information about how lice work and how to get rid of them.

Our hysteria comes from misinformation about head lice and how to get rid of it.  I read a tweet today that said head lice can transmit bacterial diseases typhus, trench fever and relapsing fever.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!  Body lice carry those and it is much harder to get. We do not see body lice unless you are in a distressed situation like homelessness, refugee camps or other situations where large groups of people live in crowded unsanitary situations.

Calmer heads need to prevail.  We need more education about how to get through a lice infestation correctly and with very little hassle.  Yes this can be done.  Call Head Lice Guru anytime if you need to be talked off the ledge!  We live to help and be the voice of reason.
